About the ship

The Schooner Tree of Life is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Combining old world and traditional design with modern hull construction, she has proven herself a safe and comfortable world cruiser, having circled the globe twice!

NewPort's
Queen of the fleet

Tree of Life was launched from the Covey Island Boatyard in Nova Scotia in 1991. Commissioned by Kelly Kellogg, Tree spent several years circumnavigating the globe with the owner and his friends and family. Tree was sold to John Laramee of Newport who sailed her for ten years and also did a circumnavigation. Tree is now owned by your hosts Captain Paul & Alison Morse of Jamestown, RI.

Tree of Life was named one of the top 100 sailing yachts in the world by Sail Magazine upon her launch in 1991. Designed by famous naval architecht Ted Brewer Tree’s masts soar 85 feet into the air and she is 72 feet on deck and 91 feet overall. Her main salon is breathtaking, Hawaian Koa panelling, rich mahogany, and teak hardwoods. Her large galley is made of beautiful maple as appropriate for her Canadian heritage.

On deck there are numerous places to hang out and capture pictures of the beautiful sights we will see. The most beautiful yachts visit Newport each summer. There are regattas almost every weekend. Each of these provide a gift to the senses as we cruise along the crisp clean waters of the Bay.
